# About aprs.fm

A fast, live map of amateur radio APRS traffic: stations, tracks, weather reports and raw packets.

## What this is

APRS is a digital amateur radio system for sharing positions, messages, weather and telemetry in real time. Radio amateurs run receiving stations that pass what they hear to the internet. aprs.fm listens to that stream, stores it, and shows it on a map.

aprs.fm is under heavy development, so features and data can change without notice.

## Who runs this

aprs.fm is built and maintained by Rutger, PD7RX. Ideas and corrections are welcome through the [feedback form](https://aprs.fm/#feedback).

## Credits

- **APRS**: Created by Bob Bruninga, WB4APR (SK). APRS® is a registered trademark credited to him. aprs.fm is not affiliated with or endorsed by the trademark holder. See [aprs.org](https://www.aprs.org/).
- **APRS-IS**: The packets arrive through the APRS Internet Service, built by developers including Pete Loveall AE5PL, Roger Bille SM5NRK, Matti Aarnio OH2MQK and Heikki Hannikainen OH7LZB, and kept running by volunteer server operators. - **The operators**: Every packet here exists because a radio amateur runs a tracker, digipeater or iGate. Thank you.
- **aprs.fi**: [aprs.fi](https://aprs.fi/) is the long-standing reference for APRS on the web and an inspiration for this project. aprs.fm is an independent project: it is not affiliated with or endorsed by aprs.fi, and uses none of its code, data or design.

Packets are public amateur radio transmissions, shown as received. They can be delayed, missing or wrong. Do not rely on aprs.fm for navigation, emergencies or anything safety-critical. The service is provided as is, without warranty.
